Shouldn't the coaches decide what plays are run?

Jerry probably won't say so publically - his ego won't let him - but doesn't the news of TO's release suggest that Steven Jones now has some control over decision or least an increased input.
What is everybody else's opinion ?
Do we go in to a situation where Jerry does not step down but fade away as GM?

We all know Jerry Jones is the GM for the Cowboys and I am completely disgusted already with the off-season moves.
I cannot take this anymore, some may think i'm overreacting but what the hell!
First we trade Anthony Henry whom lead The Dallas Cowboys in interceptions in 2007 and we already cut Pacman Jones so now all we have is Terence Newman who can't seem to stay healthy for an entire season to save his life and the Dallas cornerbacks are weak to begin with!
So we get rid of Henry now it's Newman, Jenkins, and Scandrick as the top 3 corners!?!?!?!
Give me a break remember when Jenkins refused to even attempt to tackle Brandon Jacobs last season? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JW7lz8x2I-0&feature=related footage right there) that's a great guy to have in your top 3 corners.
I've heard rumors about Shaun Springs coming to Dallas and that would certainly help the Cornerback situation. However either way by trading Henry we lose much needed depth at Corner and actually lose cap space because of Kitna's contract, when we could have just signed a free agent backup such as Kyle Boller or Rex Grossman who is younger and likely better.
Dallas gave up another late round pick to the Lions did Dallas give them enough this year?! We already gave them our 1st round picks and 3rd for Roy Williams and we don't learn we get ripped off by them again. Kitna is 36 years old I really don't see much of a difference between him and Brad Johnson.
The Lions were 0-16 last year and by those standars aren't by any means a good football team yet we keep giving them picks and taking their players that leave much to be desired.
And another thing about the Kitna trade, his best friend on the team is Roy E. Williams so our apperant "heir" to Owens is going to likely spend more time with our backup Kitna then Romo. That's going to go over well and certainly help a divided locker room.
Lastly hasn't our entire defense had a problem with this guy? Terence Newman , Ware, and Bradie James. Definitely a good way to get a locker room closer together.
2nd of all what were we thinking signing KEITH BROOKING!?!?!?! 1st of all Brooking primarily played outside linebacker in his career. With Zach Thomas and Kevin Burnett both likely being lost to free agency. We need a MLB NOT AN OLB! Are we already admitting we aren't extending Wares contract????
Brooking's primary position was ROLB which is Demarcus Ware's position. Instead we sign a washed up has-been when all we had to do was resign Zach Thomas to get a better player? I'm completly lost.
We get the chance to sign Ray Lewis a MLB something we actually need, someone who would take command in the locker room and instead we get Keith Brooking. The Cowboys had their most disappointing season possibly of all time last year and what do they do to start the off-season? Trade a needed Corner, get a washed up outside linebacker we don't need and waste a bunch of cap space.
Dallas also isn't likely to resign Canty who fit's very well into our 3-4 defense.
Now im not completely ignorant not everything you want can happen. Maybe signing Ray Lewis was a strech but wait Demarcus Ware had this to say
"You know, actually, when we played Ray Lewis and Baltimore at the end of the season, he came over and pointed to my helmet. He said, 'I want to wear this star on my helmet, that's my dream . . . that's my dream.' When we got to the Pro Bowl, he did it again. He came at me every day. It's a great opportunity for him. His door is open. He's an unrestricted free agent. He's trying to get down where the star is. He told me he needed me to get him Jerry Jones' phone number for him. I just busted out laughing."
Wait a second... Your telling me Demarcus Ware and Ray Lewis our both good friends off the field. Yes they are, so with me typing this seething I think to myself we could have had Ray Lewis and Demarcus Ware the two captains of the defense and take over the entire locker room.
There would be no split locker room or animosity with Lewis coming into the Cowboys defense and Ware saying "this is my defense" The two are already friends!!!!!!!!
We aren't getting a 1st round pick this year so virtually we head into next season with the same exact team as last year. If not a little worse. If that doesn't scare us Cowboys fan's i'm not sure what will.
I hope i'm wrong about all this because all I want is the Cowboys to actully succeed and not be a joke to the media and fans.
But i'm starting to think the longer Jerry Jones is GM the worse this team is going to be. Don't get me wrong he's a great owner and business man and has made the Cowboys into an economic powerhouse in the NFL. But looks how many coaches we've been through in the last 13 years of not winning a playoff game. How many times do you think he would have fired the GM if it wasn't him?
Dallas fan's deserve better.

Ok so for those who want Jerry gone as GM (and i am one) what 10 things would you do if you were GM ?
Silly or serious keep it to 10!, I know I have enough opinions (right and wrong) to keep writing for a week
1. Hire Ken Norton Jr as DC - He is one of the best young Defensive coaches in the game, would command the respect of our player and opposition immediately and is going to get a high porfile job soon, might as well be in Dallas - Jerry might still be pissed 'cause of the move to SF as a player but every week on FOX Troy would rave about him!
2. Hire Danny White - Wheteher Wade Wilson stays as QB coach or not Danny is uniquely positioned to help Romo because he knows what it is like to be blamed for loses in January. Make him a consultant or whatever I believe he is unemployed until the AFL starts up again.
"I don't think anybody could have followed Roger and done as well as Danny," Coach Tom Landry remarked. "Danny was a solid winner."
3. Trade TO to Seattle - I do not believe TO and Garrett can work together, so as GM I would be spending the combine trying to trade TO. first go to Seattle and give up everything I have to get the #4 pick and take Crabtree.
4. Trade TO to Oakland - If Seattle won't bite TO and Henry to Oakland for Asomungha, - then tell garret to run the ball 'cause the D isn't giving up many points
5. If nobody will trade for TO keep him and hire Michael Irvin - I am not taking the 9mil cap hit , so he plays but with The Playmaker as his position coach - How many times you think TO argues at Michael on the sideline and Irvins work ethic won't hurt Roy E. too much either
6. Move Jerry's office to the new stadium - Get him out of the ranch so I could work without him interfereing for a while.
7. Mention Matt Millen at every press conference - So making my own efforts seem more worthy!
8. Ask Jerry to purchase Cincinnati Bengals - Therefore giving the team Carson Palmer and a 246mil Salary Cap.
9. Replace Wade with Statue of Tom Landry - Coaching quality will not change much and there is no way Dallas media can complain about my hiring,
10. Take all of the Cheerleaders out to Dinner - there has to be a few perks to the job!

The petition has been well received by fans for the most part. I truly believe that if we get enough signatures, the petition will get Jerry Jones' attention. It would be, however, naive to think that even if we were to get more than 100,000 signatures, that the petition would force Jerry to step down as GM. So it's going to take more than just the petition. There are some fans who believe that it will take a boycott of the Cowboys in order to get him to step down. There are others who believe humiliation by having a game with low attendance or renting a billboard sign in Irving calling for Jerry to step down would do the trick. I would like to know what you think it's going to take to get the change that the Cowboys need to get the team back on track. Let me know your thoughts!

As the owner of the site, I've been given some constructive feedback by a True Dallas Cowboys Fan that does not agree with the ideas of this site. He has criticized that we do not give an opportunity for people to voice their opposing views. This site is for all Cowboys Fans, whether they agree with the message of the site or not. This Blog is being started for SuperStarCowboys and the fans that think Jerry Jones should stay on as GM. Hopefully, we can have some constructive debate! Keep it clean, but argue all you want!
GO COWBOYS!!

With the emergence of Rookie back Tashard Choice and assuming that both Marion Barber III and Felix Jones return next year fully healthy, will the Cowboys actually rely more on their run attack despite having so many weapons in the passing game? Clearly when you have guys like Romo, T.O., Witten and Roy Williams in your arsenal it's hard to not be tempted to just air it out. But if things go well health wise, the Cowboys could have a 3 headed running monster similar to what the giants have. Thoughts?

We all know Jerry Jones needs to step down as G.M., but does T.O. need to GO? What do you think?

Welcome to FireTheCowboysGM.com! I, as many of you, am ready to win a Sixth Super Bowl, but I truly don't believe that this will happen as long as Jerry Jones is the GM. I realize that as the owner of the team, there is no way that we can get Jerry Jones fired. However, imagine if we're able to get thousands of Cowboys Fans to tell Jerry that this is what we need, as a team, to win a sixth championship. If only one of us sends a Letter, I doubt that it will be read by Jerry, but if he receives thousands, our unified message will be delivered. So post your thoughts. Let me know whether or not you agree and what you think that this team needs to become a Championship Team again!
