Dear Mr. Jones
I wish to thank you for your consistent passion and dedication to our beloved team, and the fans who share your frustration when we fall short of post season expectations. The purpose for my letter today, is to appeal to the business executive that you are. Stephen would serve you as the GM so much more efficiently than you wearing both hats on a talented team. I have followed the Cowboys for 41 years, and brain washed my 3 younger brothers and son into becoming Cowboy fans as well.
We all realize that it is your team as the owner, and your money paying the salaries of the coaches, players and support team that provides all the logistical aspects. I believe that 90% of the fans would concur that as the owner you would be signing the checks, and coordinating the financials of every contract. It is my opinion, that Stephen has been learning all the aspects
of becoming an owner through your grooming. Stephen has also been exposed to talented football minds such as J. Johnson, and working with many intelligent coaches. The value of promoting Stephen to GM would speak volumes to your humility.
Your loyalty has been confused with the proverbial power trip, but for 20 years of ownership you have acquired three Lombardi trophies and spectacular rings. With the pending introduction of such a grand sports arena you have established yourself as the pinnacle of sports ownership. Sincerely, the only factor of you relinquishing yourself of the GM role is purely your pride. It has been my experience contributing my opinion on the "Ranch Report" that most of the fans being critical of your vice grip over the team is your severe OCD. As a business manager I admire your tenacity and desire to present every season a top quality product.
Promoting Stephen to the position of GM would enable the team to reach a younger less divisive reputation. Stephen could hire a V.P. of player operations to assist him with the evaluation of college talent, free agents, and acquiring support staff that will respect the foundation you have established for the past two decades. I am certain that your desire is to bring multiple rings to the fans of this team, but empowering Stephen and Jerry Jr. to continue the greatness that you and Jimmy Johnson built.
With all due respect,
Chaplain Brian J Werkheiser

Cowboys Fans,
I am speaking to you “True Blue” we are coming together not to hammer or release some hidden demon. If those who would call themselves Cowboys fans want to shop around for a new team, may be the Texans, how long will it take the Texans to disappoint, bring about the need of having to shop around again! I say don’t, just be a fan of football. The Texans need good hearted, loyal fans as well; not Jumpers, Band-Wagoner’s or Posers! “That’s all I have to say about that!”
Mr. Jerry Jones,
My brother, my sister and I were raised by a whole family of Cowboys fans and we have experienced all the enjoyment and frustrations that you and the Dallas Cowboys organization have undergone. I’m not here to write a hate filled letter, what I am writing to you about is how much you and The Dallas Cowboys mean to my family and me. My brother may not be the number one fan but he has to land at least in the top 10 or maybe 5; why else would he be making a web site about encouraging you, Mr. Jones, to set aside your inherent need to be General Manager. Personally I’m not so critical. I thought you handled yourself as a GM very well. Then again I voted for Bush for a second term, I know you appreciate that. I have cheered, screamed, yelled, cursed, kicked up a storm. I’m sure you get the picture, but what you don’t understand is I did this right along with you and millions of other fans around the globe.
When I was 13 years old I played for my middle school football team, against my mother’s wishes. I would ware #24, Everson Walls, “Up against the Wall.” I was a 5 foot 6 inch 125 pound 8th grader, playing against some 5 foot 11inch to 6 foot 2 inch 200 pound farm fed S.O.B.’s. I played into my junior year in High School, when I realized that I was not cut out to be a football player not because I did not have the heart but because I did not have the talent. It took me 4 years of hitting and pounding to come to this realization. Now I ask you, Mr. Jones, “How much longer will it take for you to realize that you have the heart, you just do not have the talent to be The Dallas Cowboys General Manager?”
I thank you Jerry, for all the good and bad years. You have allowed me to cheer and curse; experience the football magic as a FAN.
Sincerely,
Raul A. Monarrez

Dear Jerry:
After 48 years as fan of the Cowboys I can truly say I have had it. Since you fired Jimmy Johnson it has been a slow downhill progression for this organization. I know you think you have the best intentions for our team, but you have ruined it. I personally do not know how anyone can display Cowboy gear on their bodies or property anymore. I am embarrassed by your team and I have no intention of supporting a losing “circus act”. It is simply too much to take to see a once proud franchise reduced to a laughing stock. We fans have been so sorely disappointed in the past season that I believe the Cowboys may never recover from it. I really do not care that much anymore as all of football has become a spectacle. However, I do enjoy watching teams that compete like the two in the recent super bowl. Dallas does not compete anymore and that is sad. I could go on forever about how sickened, disgusted and repulsed I am about the past season, but I won’t. If you are listening, take heed, nothing lasts forever and your Cowboys are certainly destined for mediocrity unless you make some changes real fast.

Former Cowboy fan and looking for a new team to support. Probably the Texans
PS Why don’t you take your silly freak show back to California instead of disgracing the Alamodome with it this preseason too. It is much more suited for Hollywoooooooooooooooooood.
To Mr. Jerry Jones,
Harry Truman once said "If you can't stand the heat...get out of the kitchen!" I am not saying you can't stand the heat. But I am saying that...YOU are the one that has set the kitchen on fire! Before you burn to death...just get out all ready. Pride is a horrible mistress. She can bleed the life right out of a man’s soul.
Maybe.....it's just time to realize the truth of this situation. You are running fans off. And don't you dare say it. Truer fans cannot be found!!! We are vomiting now...we are sick of this EGO STUFF! A real honest and truthful man would STAND UP...once he has realized that he CAN'T DO SOMETHING he thought he could do. Are alot of the Cowboys fans going to have to leave the team...until a son takes over?
Since 1970...I have lived and died the Dallas Cowboys. Bad luck comes to EVERYONE occasionally. But this is enough now. If the '09 season starts without REAL changes on your part. I promise to organize in my area...a Dallas Cowboys protest...with an old fashion merchandise burning party! An EX-Cowboys website will follow. Whatever is necessary to show YOU that we will not be TOYED with. I know this is only making it worse. I can see that YOU...Jerry Jones are way too proud to be an honest member of the NFL community. You are a sad man. A pathetic example of what is wrong with people in POWER.
I have come to realize just while writing this letter. You will not do the right thing. It takes a proper understanding of right and wrong in order for that to happen. You only understand GLORY...POWER and $$$!
Have whatever kind of day you want...who cares,
Marc Stacy
Dear Jerry Jones,
I'm writing this letter on behalf of the growing numbers of Dallas Cowboys Fans that realize that your little on-the-job training Experiment as GM has.....FAILED.
I mean, for crying out loud, you would think The Dallas Cowboys were born in 1989 when you bought the team. The fact of the matter is YOU have somewhere along the line lost respect for the Legacy of what the Dallas Cowboys are all about so, Let me refresh your Memory........
As a Fan of The Cowboys since the early 70's, I remember, the prefect timing of the offense. Do you Jerry? I remember the "Swagger" of an elite Hard Working, Hard Playing and Disciplined Team that was a tough game each and every week, win or lose. Do you Jerry? I remember a trend setting well Coached Team that was always a step ahead of the rest of the League. Do you Jerry?
See, you had big shoes to fill when you bought the team waaaay back in '89 and you filled them pretty nicely, or so we all thought. After all, you chose a hell of a Head Coach in Jimmy Johnson, someone who could evaluate talent from the college level, and together you guys built a Dynasty. It was a great time for Cowboys Nation. Then your ego got in the way and you tried to prove you could win, without Jimmy Johnson and it's been all down hill from there (The Barry Switzer win in '95 does not count. That was a veteran Jimmy Johnson team that won that Super Bowl, and they would've won it with ME coaching them...... and you know it!!!!)
So, after all these years of items that go onto your Resume' as Owner/GM of The Dallas Cowboys, it sums up like this in my opinion.......Your decision to pick Jimmy Johnson was Pure Luck and your Decision to fire him was Pure Stupidity and the Result of it all is Pure Hell . Do something right for a change, FIRE YOURSELF NOW AS GM And hire a Young Football mind, allow and assist him in order to rebuild this team back to Glory, like all Great Owners do to win" Championships".
Sincerely,
Frank Washington,
Dallas Cowboys fan since 1972
Mr. Jerry Jones,
First of all, let me say that I really love what the editor of this website, is doing in this webpage. I thank him for taking the time out and doing something that will hopefully help the Cowboys organization.
I've been a Cowboys fan since I first learned about Football. Back home,
I give you a lot of credit for not being scared to spend money to try to bring another Championship to the franchise. I also think you want to win so bad that you don't realize when you make mistakes. You do good things for the franchise but turn around and do questionable things like hiring puppet coaches, signing the team up for Hard Knocks, signing players like Pacman & Tank, giving reality shows to Michael Irvin & TO, etc. The franchise has turned into a CIRCUS where winning when it counts is not the main goal.
The organization doesn’t need more publicity to be the most followed team in the league or any sport. The Cowboys already have plenty of publicity from ESPN as it is. The fans are just growing tired of not contending anymore. There is no excuse for an elite team to not win a Playoffs game in twelve years. Is the Dallas Cowboys franchise going to turn into what the Oakland Raiders have turned into?
I believe the heartbreaking season endings will continue until you realize your mistakes and correct them or WE, THE FANS, do something about it. We need to let our voice be heard, but you have to be open minded about our opinion. I was wondering how we can get your attention, and I came across this webpage. Once again, I think it is a great idea to have thousands of fans sign this petition and show you that we are the reason why the franchise is the most popular franchise in all sports. It is sad for me as a fan to hear so many Cowboy fans tell me that they are just not going to watch pro football anymore. They rather stop watching pro football than following a different franchise.
Mr. Jerry Jones, please listen to what the fans have to say in this website. If this franchise continues to go in the direction it’s going, I think we’re just going to have to stop supporting the franchise. It is painful just to think about that option, but that might be what Cowboy fans that want a real change have to do. Thank you for your time.

Dear Mr. Jones,
Over 30 of Cowboys fandom here. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for all you have done to keep the public eye on the team and for the economic advantages to have provided for yourself as the owner as it applies to the team. Your dedication to the team should be admired. Between you and Mark Cuban, it would be hard to pick a more visible owner. With that said, Your involvement as a GM must be brought into the spotlight. Twelve years have passed since our team has won a playoff game. Any other team with an owner who considered the year to year successes of the team would have moved to infuse a new energy into the team.
How many coaches passing through the campus will it take to realize it is not just the coach that impacts the team but the GM as well? Admitting the mistake of allowing Jimmy Johnson to leave, discrediting his true impact on the team and allowing a degree of self aggrandizing to creep into your assessment as GM. Truth be told, the Championship teams of the 90's were due to the JOINT collaboration and assessment of talent of Jimmy Johnson and yourself. NOBODY can really deny that. The records over the years since his departure speak for themselves. We as fans can continue to blame various coaches we've had pass through the ranch's doors but the talent we have had come through has been hit and miss. Bill Parcells was a coach and had a keen eye for talent and building a team. Left unencumbered, he probably could have made a better run at a Super Bowl. As it stands, the history books look at his stay as a mediocre blip on his resume. But he never had the control of talent that he expected when he came to town. The GM certainly brought people in that Bill never wanted to be a part of the team.
In taking a chance on iffy players, you have set this team back in its run at a championship. Matt Millen's reign in Detroit was longer than it should have been, by far. How many years of "almosts" will it take for our GM to realize he really doesn't know what it takes to assess true football talent and how to bring a cohesive unit together? Bringing in a player next year like Ray Lewis, is not the answer we need. Certainly a motivator and certainly, he knows what a winning team looks like when it plays with passion. But to pay a declining player 10 million a year to be a player coach just because we don't have anyone else on the team who could pass as a leader, that's not going to last. The players we have brought in have talent, that's not the question. But the majority are not TEAM players. Who's to blame? A magnifying glass should be shining on the offices at the top.
The GM brings in the most constructive, best talent available at the right price. The Head Coach should put the pieces together and be able to motivate his players to run through brick walls. This team's current roster seems more likely to complain about the way things are done and look for an easy way around the wall. Now the O Coordinator and the D Coordinator are accountable here too. Bringing in a strong personality with a creative mind should have been top priority but has not received the attention it deserves as of yet. How about Ken Norton as the D Coordinator? Mike Shanahan as the O Coordinator and Wade can be the supervisor and evaluator of talent like he's supposed to be?
It is time for a new era to begin in Dallas. If the head coach stays, fine, but the O coordinator and the GM have to go. We need new starts, new opportunities and a new idea in Dallas. Let Football people put the pieces together and let the owner figure out how to make money on it all. We pay our season ticket prices with a groan and Jerry keeps smiling all the way to the bank. Now we the fans are holding you, Mr. Jones, accountable for the next proper course of action. Do the right thing and we will all be smiling, all the way to next year's Super Bowl. Wouldn't it be nice to see the 'Boys play a home game Super Bowl in '11? You can make that happen. Thank you.
Sincerely,
MIKE ROWE
Good morning Mr. Jones, how are you today?
I am a longtime Cowboys fan and many of my friends will say that I live to watch them play. When the season ends for my boys, my train of thought immediately goes to the following preseason. Each and every morning, I am religiously on dallascowboys.com. I love the Dallas Cowboys as much now as I did when Tom Landry was coach. With that being said, I hope you can perceive a fraction of the pain that I have experienced over the last decade. Disregard that Jerry, of course you can, you own the team and I realize that it must hurt you trillions more than it does us fans. After all, it actually cost you when we lose.
Jerry, if you don’t mind me calling you that, my letter is not to tell you what I think you need to do, (I’m a police officer in the Atlanta area that loves the Dallas Cowboys, not an expert on football) but instead to encourage you to continue to do the job that you do and try to find out the chemistry that we need to get this team to the super bowl. I think that the players that we employ are awesome, all pro bowl players and most hall of famers. The coaches in my opinion my leave a lot to be desired, but as I stated, I’m a police officer. What ever it takes, please do it. I want so badly for the boys to be #1. And by the way, if I might make a suggestion, KEEP TERRELL OWENS. Yeah, he talks a lot about getting the ball, what receiver don’t? The bottom line is the dude wants to win, and he knows this is his chance at winning a ring. So please, disregard all the nay sayers who would like to see you do away with TO. Imagine this scenario; what if you release TO, what if the giants picked him up (last I heard, they are in need of a wide out) so now, next season, we are playing against TO. How many yards do you think he and Manning will hook up for? I can foresee another dance on the star. Just joking, I think Terrell has matured beyond dancing on the stars. But, all jokes aside, Terrell will help to take the boys to the bowl, while at the same time, turn young Mr. Roy Williams into a hall of fame wide out. Just give it a year, if it doesn’t happen then, let him go and redo your entire roster. But right now Mr. Jones, you have got a hell of a team.
Let’s go Cowboys!!!!!!!!!

Jerry,
I hope this letter makes it to you. I don’t understand why you would let this team/organization fail so bad!! You’re a great business man but for whatever reason you just won’t do what’s right and fix the team. You brought in Jimmy and he built one of the best teams of all times. Then you got mad because he got all the attention, but what you fail to see is that had you let continue to coach this team and select personnel, the Cowboys would have continued to win Championships, Which in turn would have given you more credit for being a great owner in assembling a team and coaching staff. You had it again in Parcells , which you publicly apologized and swore you would never let what happened with Jimmy happen again. You went out against Bill’s wishes and got TO. That was the end of the man that had rebuilt the Cowboys for the second time. In between and after you have selected some of the worst choices of coaches and why? So you would have a yes man that would do anything you want. Please put your ego to the side and get a real football GM and real coach. You don’t need all the so called superstars..get rid of TO and move forward.. You have made the Cowboys a joke and it’s not fair to the fans that love them so much!! WE have the talent !! We need a real coach that will kick these guys in the ass and make them work. Please do the right thing..You want respect? The fans , media and nation will respect you for getting a real coach and staying hands off.. Don’t you get tired of the constant negative media attention?
