My Letter to Jerry Jones!

 January 10, 2009

Mr. Jerry Jones

C/O Dallas Cowboys

One Cowboys Parkway

Irving, TX 75063

Dear Mr. Jerry Jones,

I would personally like to say thank you for the past 20 years of Dallas Cowboys Football.  As a die hard Dallas Cowboys Fan, I am grateful for the three Championships that we enjoyed in the 90’s.  I believe that the success of the Dallas Cowboys, during that time, can be directly attributed to your commitment to winning.

It is because of that commitment that I am writing to you today.  I know that there is nothing that you wouldn’t do to enable the Dallas Cowboys Football Team to win a record sixth Super Bowl Championship.  That is why I am asking you to reflect on the last 13 years and for you to ask yourself, as the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, “If the General Manager of this team would not have been me, would I have tolerated the performance of my GM over the past 13 years?”  I confidently believe that your answer would be “no”.

Mr. Jones, you are an excellent business man and Dallas Cowboys Fans and North Texas appreciate your efforts in getting us a new stadium, bringing the Super Bowl in 2011 and making us all proud of our metropolis!  However, your lack of focus as the Dallas Cowboys GM and your attempt to manage so many different aspects of this team is clearly evident in the performance of this team.  The decisions that you personally have made as the GM can be directly attributed to the under achievement of this team and the complete year end meltdown of a high caliber team at the end of the 2008 season.

Many fingers can be pointed at many people in the Dallas Cowboys organization, from players to coaches to executives.  But accountability has to be accepted at the top.  You have invested a lot of money to bring together a team that cannot function as a team.  All of the individuals who deserve to have a finger pointed at them for the poor performance that we have seen over the past 13 years all have reported or report to you.

That is why I, on behalf of the multitude of Dallas Cowboys fans and myself, implore you to please do the honorable, respectable and accountable action of stepping down as the Dallas Cowboys General Manager.  I ask you to bring in a qualified person that is going to be 100% dedicated to the management of the actual football team, a GM that is going to spend an extremely significant amount of time working towards the accomplishment of a Sixth Super Bowl Championship and act as a resource that will rival the resources that every other football team in the league enjoy.

With all due respect,
